Everyone is increasingly aware of the effect of our Carbon Footprint on the planet.  At Pulhams Coaches we want to encourage as many customers as possible to leave the car at home and jump on the bus, in order to save money on fuel and parking, to do their bit for the environment, as well as help to reduce emissions. Our goal is to make full use of our infrastructure, vehicle and information technology and our conscientious staff to continue to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and pollution, and to ensure we are fully compliant with both European Exhaust Emissions legislation and environmental legislation.  Here are some of our achievements to date…

• 100% of the Private Hire fleet is Ultra Low Emission Zone compliant
• Our Vehicle Replacement Strategy ensures continuous investment in the fleet, purchasing new vehicles with low emissions (Euro 6)
• All vehicles visiting London are ULEZ compliant
•  Vehicles visiting European cities will be compliant with their low emission policies
• A range of ticketing options is in place to encourage more customers to use public buses
• Mileage efficiencies on school routes are assessed annually
• Drivers are trained in efficient driving techniques, resulting in lower fuel consumption
• Driver Performance Technology is used for monitoring purposes with scores offering efficiency statistics
• Vehicles rigorously checked monthly
• Regular tyre pressure checking can reduce emissions by up to 30%
• Exhaust emissions are monitored regularly using smoke meter testing equipment
• Older vehicles are converted to meet latest emission standards using Particulate Traps
• Idle shutdown is fitted to prevent vehicles from idling
• Reduced Pollution Certificate – particulate matter is below 0.03g/kwh
• Our coach wash has a waste water reclamation system, recycling 80% of the water, with interceptors to stop contamination of local water courses
