Pulhams Coaches seeking next crop of talented apprentice engineers
Pulhams Coaches is looking to recruit apprentice engineers as part of a nationwide campaign.
Oxford Bus Group, which consists of Pulhams Coaches, plus Oxford Bus Company, Thames Travel, Carousel Buses and Pearces Coaches, has kick-started a recruitment campaign to coincide with National Apprenticeship Week, which runs between 9th and 15th February.
The aim is to take on the budding engineers across three sites: Bourton-on-the-Water, Cheltenham, and Oxford or Didcot.
Applications for the industry-leading engineering apprenticeship programme, which offers applicants the opportunity to build real-world skills for life while earning qualifications and wages, will be open until 22nd March. The first intake will then start in July.
From day one, apprentices will begin developing practical, transferable skills while working with advanced zero-emission technology.
Apprentices will initially learn about complex mechanical and electrical systems in the classroom, before getting on-the-job experience while gaining a qualification and earning a wage.
The programme will be delivered in partnership with S&B Automative Academy, one of the leading providers of apprenticeships to the automotive sector.
Luke Marion, Managing Director of Oxford Bus Group, said: “Apprenticeships are vital in providing the skills and experience to forge exciting long-term careers in the bus and coach sector.
“We are proud to be offering three more apprenticeship opportunities across the business later this year and would urge anyone interested to visit the website for further details.
“Apprenticeships are a great way to upskill our workforce, while bringing more diversity and innovation into our business.
“This investment from parent company Go-Ahead has created an excellent opportunity for people considering a career in engineering and we are committed to broadening access for underrepresented groups, including women, into engineering roles.”
The Go-Ahead Group, a leading international public transport company and the parent business of the Oxford Bus Group, is providing significant financial support to successful applicants, including funded driving lessons and tests, to help more people start a career in engineering regardless of their background. Dedicated mentors will help guide and support recruits throughout the programme.
